EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
Meredith graduated from Dorman’s Gifted and Talented Theatre Program in 1994 and went on to pursue Theatre at the College of Charleston. After graduating with a BA in Theatrical Performance in 1997, she began a short career in news and television in Columbia, SC while directing community theatre. Upon relocating to Charleston SC, Meredith served as the Musical Director at Porter-Gaud, (Les Mis, My Fair Lady), and as the Theatrical Choreographer at Charleston Southern University. (South Pacific, Oklahoma!) In 2011, Meredith founded a musical theatre troupe of young performers, The Palmetto Players, where she served as a vocal coach, audition coach, and director. (A Walk Down Broadway, Bits of Broadway) In 2013, she accepted a Theatre teaching position at Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School. During her time at TBCS she directed fifteen large scale productions including: Hairspray, Footloose, Shrek, Grease, Into the Woods, The Lion King Jr., High School Musical, Pride & Prejudice, Robinhood, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty & the Beast, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Musketeer, & Les Miserables. After a two year sabbatical to write and publish a YA fiction book series, Churning Waters, Clashing Waters, Meredith accepted a teaching position at South Florence High School where she taught Theatre and Studio Production & Film Design. In 2019-2020, Meredith fought through the pandemic woes to direct SFHS’s first musical in twelve years. Meredith was a member of the PAIS Arts Festival Board from 2014-17, and served as their Stage Combat/Musical Theatre Instructor. Meredith is excited to join the Carolina Forest Performing Arts family and will direct her first CFHS musical spring 2022. |
